4 systems to rehabilitate an exterior façade

The facades, beyond aesthetics, fulfill very important functions for a building such as thermal insulation and the protection of this one. Therefore, it is essential to keep them in good condition to ensure safety and comfort. At present there are many systems to rehabilitate an exterior facade, for example, exterior insulation with ventilated facade, polyurethane foam or the injection in chamber of mineral wool or cellulose.

Pinturas Blatem has been working for years in the development of solutions for the rehabilitation of façades and has a wide catalogue of systems that suits all types of problems and pathologies. These are some of our systems to rehabilitate an exterior facade:

• Blatem Sprint Elástico

This product is an elastic coating with anti-mould preservative that is used to rehabilitate façades with cracking problems. Blatem Sprint Elástico is water-resistant since it is formulated with self-crosslinking acrylic resins. In addition, it has an anti-mould effect on the paint, it is permeable to water vapour and resistant to the alkalinity of the substrate.

Blatem Sprint Elástico passed a cracking resistance test with the highest score (Class A5 according to standard UNE-EN 1062-7), which guarantees its effectiveness. In addition to rehabilitating an exterior façade, Blatem Sprint Elástico can also be used as finish layer of waterproofing coating on walkable terraces, as well as an anti-carbonation barrier for concrete.

• Sateffic (ETICS=External Thermal Insulation Composite System)

Sateffic from Blatem is an external thermal insulation system (SATEFFIC) based on a rock wool insulation board or graphite/white expanded polystyrene that adheres to the buildings façade to regulate losses and gains of heat and cold, so that a stable temperature is maintained in the interior that guarantees the thermal comfort.

The installation of a system like Sateffic in a façade has many advantages, as it helps reduce energy consumption since less cooling or heating systems will be used. In addition, it contributes to improve the energy certification of the building, with the consequent reduction in Property Tax . Another positive aspect of Sateffic is that its installation does not represent any loss of habitable space, since everything is installed by the exterior.

• Mar Liso

Mar Liso is a coating composed of acrylic copolymers that has been developed to guarantee a solid application and  durability on any exterior façade. Mar Liso ensures the maximum protection and quality for exterior surfaces lengthening durability of all external materials. It is a waterproof and breathable coating that is also self-cleaning in the rain.

The use of Mar Liso to rehabilitate an exterior façade has many other advantages, as it has a good adhesion on practically any surface, it is resistant to wet rubbing and alkalinity and its application is very simple. In addition, it is very easy to apply it on the façade and it is almost odourless.

• Sun protection technology

This technology is one of our most recent developments: it is a chart of colours with sun protection that has been specially formulated to reduce the temperature of exterior surfaces. Specifically, it decreases the accumulation of heat from the facade of a building, preventing it from penetrating the interior.

It is a good solution for those surfaces that are constantly exposed to the sun, since they reflect sunlight and at the same time they keep the colour of the facade in perfect condition. The chart consists of 59 different shades that are available for the following systems from Pinturas Blatem: Mar Liso, Sprint Elástico, Sprint Mate, Torval Acrylic Mortar and Torval Scratched Acrylic Mortar.
