Elastem System: the ideal barrier for colour and water
Looking for a waterproofing solution for roofing? Pinturas Blatem introduces Elastem, a new system for heat reflective insulation. This solution not only prevents the entry of water into roofing, but also improves the thermal comfort of your home.
Elastem is comprised of a liquid waterproofing membrane with a water-based coat and a specific reinforcement mesh. This membrane enables perfect waterproofing with complete heat reflective insulation, due to high solar reflectance, resulting in lower heat transmission into the building. Thanks to these qualities, Elastem is an ideal solution to improve energy certification while reducing electrical consumption of HVAC equipment.
In a nutshell, the Elastem system, suitable for both new construction as well as remodels, ensures complete waterproofing of horizontal surfaces. Thus, the system may be applied to any type of masonry or metal surface; the surface must be preliminarily verified for cleanliness and proper condition.
What are the advantages of the Elastem system?
- Complete waterproofing applied without flame or heat.
- Continuous waterproofing fully bonded to the substrate with no joints or overlaps.
- Rain and moisture resistant waterproofing.
- High elasticity. Absorbs expansions, contractions and vibrations of roofing, even in extreme temperatures (between -20°C and +90°C).
- Easy application using rollers and brushes.
- Water vapour permeable.
- Excellent adhesion (diluted) and coverage.
- No flame propagation.
- Rust free metal surfaces.
- High solar reflectance.
How to apply the system to concrete or brick surfaces
- Priming: Acrylic fixative
- First coat: Blatem Elastem
- Mesh: Blatem Elastem 180
- Second coat: Blatem Elastem (optional)
How to apply the system to metal surfaces
In this case, the system would be the same except for the use of Blatepox Primer Antioxidant for initial priming.

The Elastem system is endorsed by Pinturas Blatem, as it has been subjected to all types of quality controls, successfully tested in accordance with the requirements of current regulations. In particular, Elastem is certified by bodies accredited by EOTA (European Organization for Technical Approvals) in accordance with standard ETAG 005 (European Technical Approval), regarding 'Liquid applied roofing waterproofing systems'.
