This time of the year in which we prepare ourselves to face the coldest and wettest months is perfect to undertake renovations in our house that allow us to enjoy a quiet autumn. One of the most recurrent measures during these days is the installation of waterproofing systems that protect our homes against water leaks and for this there are different solutions.

Roof waterproofing systems

The roof of a building is the surface most predisposed to suffer leaks and overheating. Therefore, the main waterproofing solutions aim at protecting this part of the building. Pinturas Blatem has four different roof waterproofing systems that are applied in liquid form and meet all the needs. These systems are as follows:

1. Blatem Antigoteras: it is a non-asphalt thick-layer waterproofer specially designed to prevent leaks from the outside. It is designed to be applied on roofs, terraces, and in short, any horizontal outdoor area. These are its characteristics:

• Complete waterproofing with application without flame or heat.
• Continuous waterproofing completely adhered to the substrate without joints or overlaps.
• Resistant to rain and humidity.
• High elasticity and ability to bridge cracks.
• It absorbs dilatations, contractions and vibrations of the roof.
• Permeable to water vapour.
• Resistant to alkalinity of the substrate.
• Good adhesion (diluted) and covering.
• Easy application with rollers and brushes.
• Passable for people.
• Very resistant to wet rubbing.
• Excellent micronization allowing its application with aerographic or airless equipment.
• It does not spread flame.

2. Membrana de poliuretano al agua: it is a non-asphalt thick-layer waterproof elastic coating formulated with an advanced technology that prevents water leaks from the outside. The water-based polyurethane membrane system has the following specifications:

• Total waterproofing without flame or heat.
• Good adhesion to the substrate (diluted).
• High elasticity to withstand dilatations and contractions of the substrate.
• Permeable to water vapour.
• Resistant to alkalinity of the substrate.
• Easy application and good covering power.
• Passable for people.
• Non-yellowing.
• Continuous waterproofing without joints or overlaps.
• Very resistant to wet rubbing.
• It does not spread flame.
• Excellent micronization allowing its application with aerographic or airless equipment.

3. Blatem Umbrella: innovative waterproofing system obtained by mixing the product with Portland type cement. This is a passable solution for concrete or ceramic roofs and these are its characteristics:

• It is obtained from the mixture of Portland cement with Blatem Umbrella (waterproofing cement additive) mixed 1 to 1 by weight.
• Complete waterproofing with application without flame or heat.
• Continuous waterproofing with high adhesion on the substrate without the presence of joints or overlaps.
• Resistant to alkalinity of the substrate.
• Easy application with trowel.
• Passable for people.
• Rainproof waterproofing.
• Permeable to water vapour.

4. Blatem Elastem: it is composed of a water-based and thick layer liquid waterproofing membrane, which also allows high solar reflection reducing heat transmission to the interior of the building. Blatem Elastem has the following properties:

• High solar reflection.
• Reduction of heat transmission to the interior of the building.
• Complete waterproofing with application without flame or heat.
• Continuous waterproofing completely adhered to the substrate without joints or overlaps.
• Resistant to rain and humidity.
• High elasticity and ability to bridge cracks. It absorbs dilatations, contractions and vibrations of the roof, even at extreme temperatures (between -20 ºC and +90 ºC).
• Resistance to UV rays and abrasion.
• Passable for people.
• High chemical resistance.
• Easy application with rollers and brushes. Excellent micronization, allowing its application with aerographic or airless equipment.
• Permeable to water vapour.
• Good adhesion (diluted) and covering power.
• It does not spread flame.
• It does not oxidize metallic surfaces.
